Tasmanian Champion

I had a much more successful day at the Tasmanian Olympic Distance Championships and round 3 of the state series on Sunday. It was a wet day on a challenging course but I felt strong, fast and didn't experience any technical difficulties. I finished the 1500m swim, 40km cycle and 10km run in a touch over 2 hours and 14 minutes as first female and 10th overall.

I was also notified yesterday that I am a finalist in the TIS Tasmanian Sports Awards, Tasmania's most prestigious sports awards, which will be announced on Friday 12th March.

Training for Ironman Australia is going well and the next three weeks will be long and hard in the build up to my main race for the season.

Not such a good day at Geelong 70.3

It started ok. I felt good, had freshen up well and was excited for a good hit out. Swim was ok, tough conditions with the jelly fish, and a little chop but I exited the water in good time and feeling strong. I put the hammer down on my new GIANT SL1 (thanks CBD Cycles and Giant!) and was riding strongly until my bad luck with punctures struck again. i ran over a sharp rock heading through the botanical gardens on my third lap. I stopped ripped the tyre off quick but wasn't able to fix it. day over. disappointed and slightly frustrated....

Lorne

Joe and I flew to Melbourne for the weekend with my little sister. We travelled down to Lorne for the Pier to Pub swim and the Mountain to Surf run. It was great fun. Over 2000 people participated in the 8km run on a hot Friday evening and then 4300 took to the waters for the 1.2km swim on Saturday afternoon. Em, Joe and I did both events and were all happy with our efforts, times and placings. I ran into 11th in 32.45 and finished 24th in the swim in 14.45.

In the groove

14 days off "hell" included 40km of swimming, 1000kms on the bike and 180km of running with Christmas and New Year celebrations thrown in for fun! The fortnight finished with race1 of the 2010 MyState Financial Triathlon Series at Seven Mile beach and I raced to the win much more comfortably than I expected. The swim was tough but I rode and ran quite well considering! Off to Lorne in Victoria this weekend for the famous Pier to Pub Swim and Mountain to Surf Run. Can't wait!

Just an update...

A busy weekend saw the running of my new club's first triathlon and then backing up by hosting the schools triathlon challenge for 510 kids on Monday. Saturday was my first ride over 100km for a while and was tough in windy and hilly conditions. Sunday I raced both the supa sprint and the sprint tri's and Monday I coordinated and encouraged 47 students from my school in what was for most their first triathlon experience. The primary school race was fantastic, so many kids having a ball!! Back to solid training today though with 5.5km in the pool and 60km on the bike with some nasty hills....can't wait to finish work so I can throw a run in too!!

I hate the flu!

After a lovely few of weeks of a relaxed training schedule I was all set to start back full training on Monday. But not to be, a nasty case of the flu saw me spend an extra few days in bed instead. I had to miss the challenging Point to Pinnacle which had finally fitted into my schedule but my body had other ideas. Feeling better now tomorrow becomes the official start date!
